Just like stone, in mountain buildings wood is the most popular building component both as regards its building (easy to cut, to carry and work) and intrinsic features (it is hardwearing, pliable, sturdy, beautiful, …). Today, wood is also very popular because it blends in perfectly with the environment. However wood requires a certain care mainly when it is used outdoors, in order to preserve its qualities throughout time.
Wood is live matter that is constantly moving, although imperceptibly and in a flexible way. It breathes and can unfortunately change. It is in fact an organic material, as it can be affected by damp, excessive dry climate, a sudden rise or fall in temperature, vegetable parasites (fungi and mould) and pests (woodworms, serows and termites) and by the devastating violence of fire. This is the reason why external wooden surfaces must be protected from pelting rain by means of broad roof pitches and suitable gutters. Water must be stopped from stagnating and a suitable microclimate must be created indoors, together with proper ventilation so as to avoid the risk of a “stuffy room” effect and condensation, which mainly occurs in the rooms with the highest concentration Per un legno d’epoca, la fase iniziale del trattamento consiste in un’accurata pulizia con idropulitrice ad acqua o vapore (se lo sporco è superficiale o se le strutture sono particolarmente fragili) o con sabbiatrice (se l’intervento deve essere profondo o ci sono tracce di verniciature precedenti da eliminare).
Period wood should be initially treated with a water or steam water polishing machine (if the dirt is superficial or if the structures are particularly fragile) or with a sand-blasting machine (if a thorough treatment is required or if bits Quando si puliscono i vetri di un serramento, è consigliabile rimuovere anche ogni traccia di smog, pioggia acida e polvere dalla superficie verniciata.
Removing every single trace of smog, acid rain and dust from the varnished surfaced is recommended when cleaning the glass panes of a window or door frame. Using water mixed with a neutral detergent (for instance a washing-up liquid) is enough, as well as applying a restoring product specifically devised to protect the casing every six months in order to restore its brightness.
The wood is very appreciated due to its aesthetical look but we cannot leave aside that it is a very good building material. At this purpose, Stistemi & Legno offers houses with bearing walls in solid wood covered with plaster, stone or any other material (as for bricks) in order to enjoy of wood advantages as structural component but covered with the favoured material. This needs an attentive and customised design upon the needs of the final users. Health, high insulation features and lightness characterise this building system allowing building a house in a
