Cosa l’ha spinta a lasciare la casa di città per questo antico convento da ristrutturare completamente?
Cercavamo una sistemazione più spaziosa, capace di soddisfare il bisogno di tranquillità e nello stesso tempo di funzionare anche come casa di rappresentanza per le sfilate di abiti per uomo che produce l’azienda di mio marito.
Ciò che dà largo respiro a questa casa è l’altissimo spazio che ingloba l’originario presbiterio con il piano superiore segnato dal ballatoio….
L’intervento qui è stato complesso anche per i vincoli postici dalla Soprintendenza. La soletta per esempio è agganciata alle pareti senza aderirvi, e dopo aver demolito le pareti trasversali che suddividevano lo spazio, abbiamo dovuto comunque evidenziare le originarie strutture degli archi.

What pushed you to leave your town house for this old monastery that needed radical restoration?
We were looking for a bigger house that might fulfil our desire for peace and, at the same time, be a suitable location for fashion shows staged by my husband’s firm for the presentation of men’s suits.
The vast scale of this house is due to the high space that contains the original presbytery with the upper floor framed by the gallery…
The intervention was quite complicated, also owing to the constraints by the Fine Arts Service. The slab, for instance, is hooked to the walls but does not touch them, and after tearing down the cross walls that divided the space, we still had to underline the original arched structures.
