Praticità innanzitutto, ma anche colore e fantasia per l’ambiente considerato ancora oggi il cuore della casa, per il locale dove tutta la famiglia si riunisce e dove grandi e piccini devono sentirsi a proprio agio.

Practicality stands above all, but colours and imagination too are dispensed for the environment that today is still considered the home’s heart, where the family summons, where adults and little ones have to feel comfortable.

Come per ogni ambiente le tende della cucina devono adattarsi allo stile dell’arredo e con esso creare un tutt’uno armonioso, ma è soprattutto in questa zona della casa che le tende devono soddisfare l’esigenza di pulizia e luminosità.
Per questo motivo devono essere pratiche e leggere. È dunque consigliabilie scegliere tende facilmente lavabili sia per la qualità del tessuto che per il modello del montaggio e sufficientemente leggere da mascherare la vista dall’esterno senza però ostacolare il passaggio della luce. Nel passato le tende di questo locale erano spesso bianche, tuttalpiù rallegrate da piccoli disegni; oggi invece c’è una maggior possibilità di scelta: infatti non solo è possibile trovare tessuti colorati resistenti a frequenti lavaggi, ma è anche facile trovare numerose proposte interessanti tra le tende in vendita
già confezionate.

Per la necessità di luce, tipica dell’ambiente cucina, può risultare utile limitarsi ad una leggera mantovana o ad una tendina che copra solo la parte altadel vetro, ma è possibile fare anche il contrario: coprire cioè solo la parte bassa del vetro. Quest’ultimo tipo di tenda viene chiamato “alla francese” perchè inizialmente era utilizzato nei caffè e nei ristoranti di Francia per impedire la vista dall’esterno delle persone sedute ai tavolini. Oggi viene utilizzato specialmente negli ambienti arredati in modo informale o country e viene realizzato con tessuti leggeri ad esempio con tessuto di cotone a quadretti. (Vedi disegno)

As for every other environments, the curtains of the kitchen must adapt to furnishing style and create along with it a whole harmonious entity, but above all they need to satisfy cleaning and luminosity needs. For this reason they must be practical and light. It is therefore advisable to choose easily washable curtains, either for the quality of fabric and the attaching mechanism. At the same time curtains have to block view from the outside without stopping the light passage. Once this room’s curtains were often dyed in white or, at the most, refined by small illustrations.

Today’s choice is wider: it is actually not only possible to choose among many coloured and wash resistant cloths but it is also easier to find interesting items among ready made curtains offering. To simply address the need of light, a typical kitchen need, it can be useful to pick a light pelmet or a small curtain which just cover the upper part of the window. The contrary too can be done, by covering the lower part of the glazed surface. The latter curtain type is known as “French fashion” because originally used in French coffee bars and restaurants to prevent passer by look at clients sitting at tables. Today they’re especially used in informal designed or country-style places and are made of light fabric, such as tablecloth like checked cotton.

Per quanto riguarda il tipo di montatura meglio non esagerare con volants ed arricciature perchè potrebbero trasformarsi in ricettacoli di polvere. Naturalmente, per una maggior sicurezza, bisogna
evitare assolutamente che il tessuto arrivi vicino ai fornelli.

When selecting curtains for the kitchen room it is necessary to go for textiles which are not too delicate and preferably resistant to steam, heat and condense. In regard to attaching device it is better not to over exaggerate in the use
of valances and pleats because they can turn into dust traps. Of course, for safety reasons, curtains’ cloths should not get close to the stove.
