Nel verde di Formentera, Isole Baleari Tra i riflessi cristallini del mare e le rocce riarse dal sole, la casa – studio di Marià Castelló a Between the crystalline reflections of the sea and the rocks dried by the sun, this house – the studio of Progetto di Marià Castelló Lontano dalle spiagge affollate di turisti, Formentera offre angoli incontaminati, tra vecchie cisterne per la raccolta delle acque piovane, muretti a secco riarsi dal sole, cespugli di ginepro e rosmarino. Far from the tourist-filled beaches, Formentera is still unspoiled with its old cisterns for collecting rainwater, dry stone walls, and juniper and rosemary bushes. This is where Marià Castellò Martinez has built her refuge, in a place where time seems to move more slowly. It is a discreet volume, white and compact with a square layout of twelve metres on each side, comprising both the house and the architect’s studio. The north-south orientation has made this double functionality possible: to the north there is the studio with areas for work and for meeting clients, to the south there are the domestic and private rooms. All’occorrenza le vetrate possono essere chiuse da pannelli scorrevoli in legno grazie ai quali modulare la luce o spiare da una fessura la natura circostante. In between these, in the central part of the building, there is a bookcase, kitchen and bathroom, and installation systems, all of which has iroko boiserie that physically separates private life from work life. Both north and south have large full-height symmetrical windows that open onto the landscape and fill the rooms with sunlight. The windows can be closed with sliding wooden panels with which to modulate light or spy on the surrounding countryside from a small gap.
