Ci sono analogie tra la sua casa e gli ambienti della Alboran?
Sì, per me non ci sono scissioni, per di più in entrambi è intervenuto lo stesso decoratore che, sotto la guida di Vincenzo Palumbo, ha saputo interpretare le mie idee.
Qual è l’idea che sta sotto l’immagine del cubo?
Premetto che la categoria tempo è un concetto che mi affascina e mi angoscia, e questo fin da quando ero bambino. Il cubo nero è un po’ questo giocare col tempo, una specie di casa del futuro scoperta troppo tardi: infatti il futuro è già invecchiato e, nel monolite piombato dal cielo, le piante hanno già invaso le scale. Il nero è invece l’eterna magia dello spettacolo.
Ethnic furniture and stainless steel kitchen sets stand together without clashing: while the home theater set brings high tech into the house, furniture is the expression of different cultures.
Are there similarities between your house and the Alboran premises?
Yes, there is no difference for me, and both environments were created by the same decorator who, under the direction of Vincenzo Palumbo, perfectly interpreted my ideas.
What’s the idea behind the cube?
Time is fascinating and distressing for me, ever since I was a child. The black cube is a sort of time joke, a house of the future I discovered too late: as a matter of fact, the future has already got old and, in the monolith fallen from the sky, plants have invaded the stairs and we live inside it. Black represents the eternal magic of the show business.

A conferma della perfetta coerenza stilistica tra casa e impresa vediamo qui a fianco alcune immagini degli interni di Alboran. Nelle pagine seguenti il letto originario di Bali fa da contrappunto alla decorazione muraria dello sfondo.

Etnie e tecnologie. Come le concilia?
Per me, essere circondato da questi oggetti mi garantisce il continuo rapporto con le culture di tutte le latitudini. Sembrerebbe, la mia, la casa di un grande viaggiatore e lo sono anche se torno spesso negli stessi luoghi.
Mi sembra che questo interesse sarà trasposto anche nei futuri canali televisivi in rete.
Abbandonando l’idea di una televisione generalista stiamo impiantando centinaia di canali tematici compresi quelle etnici per differenti lingue e culture: sono già partiti il giapponese e il latino americano. Ne è previsto poi un altro collegato con una rivista e con una associazione ecologista che sta sviluppando una tenuta in Tanganica: la zona, dismessa da una azienda svizzera, diventerà parco riserva naturale in riva al mare per proteggere le specie in via di estinzione.
Perché crede tanto nella tivù via web?
Perché credo che questa sia la vera tv interattiva, capace di modificare il linguaggio in quanto si rivolge a un pubblico consenziente, attento: meno retorica e più informazione; aggiornata e calibrata sulle esigenze di chi guarda, con spazi accessibili anche a piccole aziende.
Folk and high-tech. How do you match them?
For me, to be surrounded by these objects ensures a constant link with cultures at any latitude. My house might seem the house of a traveller, and I am one, though I often go back to the same places.
I guess your interests will be transferred to the upcoming Web-based TV channels?
Going beyond the idea of generic TV, we are installing some 100 theme channels, including ethnic programs for different languages and cultures: Japan and Latin America are already on air. Another one is planned, in partnership with a magazine and an environmental organization which is developing an estate in Tanganyika: the area, abandoned by a Swiss company, will be turned into a natural park along the coast, for the protection of endangered species.
Why do you believe so much in Web TV?
Because I think that’s the real interactive TV, capable of affecting language as it is addressed to an attentive, aware and consenting audience: less rhetoric and more information, updated and tuned to the needs of the audience, and also accessible to the small enterprises.
