Creative affinity provides a natural encounter between the sensitivity and inspiration of Romeo Gigli and the artistic rigour of designer Sergio Calatroni. The space created conveys ethereal lightness that gives maximum exposure to the distinctive colours and make-up of the designer store. 1. Quella naturale filtra dalle ampie vetrine, all’occorrenza schermate con quinte scorrevoli in PMMA azzurro trasparente. The main player here is light. It invents and transforms space, designs and builds changing atmospheres, and brings out surfaces and transparencies. Natural light filters in through the large windows, which are sometimes veiled by sliding screens in transparent blue PMMA. Artificial lighting comes in the form of a well-defined system of direct and indirect lights that punctuates the cei-ling with an asymmetrical effect. The boutique is on two floors, connected by a ziggurat-style oak staircase that makes its way around a magical, transparent, green crystal box, thirteen metres in height.

Ethereal balance with asymmetrical slits in the ceiling that hide indirect light, or zenithal light when the slit corresponds to the hanger structure. Lampada espositiva Display lamp The large monolith acts as a key symbolic element of the entire project, providing emphasis to transparency and filling the space of the stairwell. Design features almost go unnoticed, including the ‘deconstructivist’ crystal handle of the entrance door, the shelving set in the wall, and the mirrors separated from the walls as if they were increasing in number. The delicate white of the walls and ceiling is contrasted by the strong expressiveness of the fluorescent yellow and green iron handrail, and by the oak shelves jutting out of the walls to provide respite and luminosity. Free paintbrush strokes on the walls, in orange and red, create backdrops for the clothes on display. This has echoes of Romeo Gigli’s style. His clothes convey the manual gesture of dyeing fabric. Colour represents the balance of things, and touch is one way of coming into contact with it. The collections, displayed on simple metal structures, float in space and light, thanks to the lightness of the hanger system that brings together the simplicity of the iron bar and an original direct/indirect lighting system hanging from the ceiling on iron cables. The ceiling is given dynamism thanks to the asymmetrical slits that hide the indirect light. When the slit corresponds to the hanger structure, a sort of ‘display lamp’ is created whereby the light illuminates, in a zenithal manner, the clothes. The floating collection of the stylist weighs anchor with the incredible floor, made and laid by ECOPIETRA. Ecopietra has selected large slabs of natural stone in myriad hues. These slabs are unique in colour and detail, and they are the result of a natural process of fossilisation and stratification. These products of nature made over millennia create a mosaic floor that is in total communication with the room itself. They become a key interpreter of the clothes displayed by the well-known stylist, who has always paid attention to detail, form, and colour. Here, fashion, art and nature come together in a magical moment. It is a search for material and chromatic balance, simplicity of form and light; the barycentre of the space lowers and increases the horizontal nature of the slits along the shelves and on the walls. The fluid shop display has little furniture, but includes the Egyptian Stool by Ole Wanscher, designed in 1949, the small PP120 chairs, and the Circle Chairs by Hans Wegner dated to 1960; the harp armchair is by Jorgen Hovelskov, 1968.
