Gjlla Giani You must be able to communicate to improve the quality of your life We are always consistent with our ambitious goal of defining the profile of the man who will emerge from the millennium’s end suffering: the Man of the New Renaissance will be able to positively react to the global market, the new economy and the sustainable development. For this reason, we dedicate our editorial to an event with a strong symbolic meaning: the honorary degree conferred to two leading figures of the business world by the Milan-based languages and communications university IULM, during the official opening of the Academic Year 2000-2001. The new graduates are Fedele Confalonieri, Mediaset President, the man who, together with Silvio Berlusconi, has made the history of communications in Italy, and Cesare Romiti, former Fiat President and current Chairman of RCS Editori, the great manager who, together with Gianni Agnelli, has led Fiat (and consequently the whole business world) out of the “hot autumn” of the Seventies, when the Italian production system came very close to a breaking point. Two battles for progress, won thanks to a new and involving way of communicating at all levels. And IULM is the university of modern communications, centered around the needs of the modern enterprise, as underlined by the director Professor Francesco Alberoni: the university must contribute to the improvement of life quality and human relations. “I have always hoped that our degree in Public Relations might foster the clarity and morality of the relationships between companies and their customers, between the State and the citizens.” The editorial policy of “Casa Oggi” – conveying new contents through the description of the lifestyle of leading figures searching for the Man of Renaissance – is right in the middle of this epochal change. In the reports featured in our monthly magazine, the men of the New Renaissance share the same “inclination” that characterized the philosophy of the two model graduates: in their job, multifaceted communications. The house is the consistent translation we present in our exclusive publications. Gjlla Giani
