La vasca da bagno: design essenziale e benessere

La rivoluzione dell’ambiente bagno, non più solamente luogo “funzionale” ma soprattutto regno del benessere sia fisico che mentale, ha contagiato anche l’elemento vasca, non più imprigionata nella muratura ma free standing, elemento solitario nato per essere ammirato, rappresentando una vera e propria icona di design

The revolution of the bathroom, no longer a ‘functional’ area but now primarily a place for physical and mental well-being, has also infected the bathtub element: previously imprisoned between walls, now it is a free-standing solitary feature to be admired, a fully-fledged designer icon

Se in principio la vasca era un elemento “intrappolato” nella totalità dell’arredo bagno, ora sempre più spesso ha una propria individualità e riesce a “staccarsi” da tutto il resto. Solitamente eravamo abituati a concepire la vasca come un pezzo dalla sola funzionalità, quella dell’utilità, ma non era vista come elemento di arredo e di design.
Emergendo dalla muratura per divenire un’entità singola, muta di forma e di significato. Ora da “nascosta” diventa oggetto da guardare e che deve essere guardato. È il caso di Illusion, una vasca che vive da sola, con grande personalità, al centro della stanza da bagno, diventandone protagonista, anche per l’elegante supporto in wengè che ne esalta il design, o di SophieSofà, che si distingue per l’ergonomicità e l’innovativo materiale “morbido”
(Calyx di Palazzetti).

Although originally this feature was ‘trapped’ with all the other bathroom furniture, now it increasingly has its own identity and it manages to detach itself from the rest. We are used to thinking of a bathtub purely as a functional element rather than as an element of furniture and design.
La rivoluzione del bagno ha contagiato anche la ricerca tecnologica che, per reinventare spazi sempre più moderni e innovativi, ha dovuto focalizzarsi sulla scoperta e l’impiego di nuovi materiali in grado di aumentare il benessere fisico e garantire maggiore sicurezza. Di conseguenza anche la forma è cambiata e da semplice rettangolo o ovale si arriva alla progettazione di sagome ergonomiche in grado di avvolgere naturalmente il corpo, regalando sollievo e piacevolezza.
Anche la ricercatezza delle finiture e la realizzazione di apposite strutture di supporto rendono l’elemento vasca finalmente “libero” e indipendente.
Fattore indispensabile nelle vasche da bagno moderne è l’equipaggiamento con diversi sistemi di benessere, come l’idromassaggio con un particolare design da renderlo invisibile quando non utilizzato.

Yet by coming out of its walled enclosure to become a single entity, it has changed shape and meaning.
From its hidden past it has become an object to look at and admire.
This is the case with Illusion, a bathtub with a life and personality of its own at the centre of the bathroom; it plays a key role now, thanks also to the elegant wengé support that sets off the design. Another example is SophieSofà with its distinctive ergonomic and innovative ‘soft’ material (Calyx by Palazzetti).

The revolution of the bathroom has also influenced technological research which, in order to invent modern and innovative spaces, has had to concentrate on finding new materials capable of increasing physical well-being while offering higher levels of safety.
As a result also the shape of the bathtub has changed.
From the simple rectangle or oval, now there are ergonomic shapes that naturally support the body giving it
a pleasant sense of relief.
Elegant finishing touches and the design of support structures make the bathtub free and independent at last. A must for the modern bathroom are various wellness systems such as the whirlpool bath with a special design that keeps it out of sight when not in use.
