L’associazione Internazionale “Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili” nasce nel gennaio del 2008 a fronte dell’impegno e della forte volontà dei suoi soci fondatori di voler contribuire a creare le premesse per l’affermazione di una cultura diffusa del nuovo paradigma dello Sviluppo Sostenibile.
I dati ambientali raccolti sono chiari ed incontrovertibili: il prelievo umano di risorse dall’ambiente ha superato la sua naturale capacità di carico e questo prelievo è destinato a soddisfare gli appetiti inappagabili di una società dei consumi costituita dal 30% della popolazione mondiale.
A fronte delle esigenze di comfort e di progressiva destrutturizzazione della componente materiale dell’economia,
vengono “bruciate” enormi quantità di combustibili fossili che mettono in crisi l’ecosistema Terra per come attualmente si presenta. Tutto questo richiede un immediato ripensamento sull’attuale modello di sviluppo incentrato sul “consumo”, per porre le basi di una nuova società equa e solidale verso l’ecosistema terrestre e verso l’intera popolazione umana.
Invece assistiamo oggi all’insostenibile indifferenza di quanti direttamente responsabili di questo inutile spreco
di risorse e, contrariamente a quanto auspicabile, il falso mito della società dei consumi prolifera e contagia contesti
antropici ancora oggi più sostenibili di quanto non lo siano le società post-industriali.
Ed in questa forsennata corsa al “Consumo” facciamo terra bruciata della possibilità di qualità della vita delle future generazioni.
Perché tutto questo? Forse perché con l’età contemporanea si è bruscamente rotto il filo ad oggi ininterrotto del rapporto che lega l’uomo al suo intorno ambientale, il legame tra cultura materiale e sua sedimentazione storica; continui nuovi miti, mode e tendenze impediscono la pausa e la riflessione e questo crea il vuoto culturale che non consente la scelta e lo sviluppo di modelli di vita più equi e sostenibili.
Da questa riflessione “Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili” nasce e vuole rappresentare il fattore aggregante e costitutivo di una rete, radicata nel territorio, che promuova la cultura della sostenibilità e quindi la cultura del progetto “Sostenibile”.
“Cultura della sostenibilità del progetto“ perché riteniamo che oggi, più che mai, sia necessario essere consapevoli
delle ripercussioni globali del nostro agire singolo: ogni scelta locale interagisce con il sistema globale, andando a incidere sugli aspetti sociali, economici, ambientali. Progettare sostenibile è il partire e il condividere una logica di sistema, in cui gli elementi fondanti del progetto sono la cultura del rispetto del territorio, delle sue risorse, del valore delle relazioni sociali, della sua storia e dell’essere punto singolare interagente con l’universale.
“Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili” è un modo di pensare che pone al centro del processo progettuale la qualità dell’ambiente, il pensare al progettista in termini di artista-artigiano interessato a far sì che si esprimano, attraverso il progetto, le esigenze collettive, il vissuto e la partecipazione dei cittadini e non l’arroganza del singolo sapere tecnologico e la egotica presunzione di essere interpreti unici ed illuminati del portato culturale contemporaneo.
“Cultura & Progetto sostenibili” vuole essere una inversione di tendenza, una sfida, un nuovo paradigma.

The international association “Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili“ (Sustainable Culture and Design) was created in January 2008, following its founder associates’ commitment and strong will to allow future affirmation of a widespread culture of the new Sustainable Development paradigm.
The gathered environmental data is clear and incontrovertible: human resource withdrawal from the environment has exceeded its natural carrying capacity, and this withdrawal is destined to satisfy the inappeasable greeds of a consumeristic society made up of 30% of the world’s population.
In response to comfort needs and to a progressive de-structuring of economy’s tangible component, huge amounts of fossil fuels, endangering Earth’s ecosystem as we know it, are consumed. All this requires immediate rethinking of the current development model, focused on “consumerism” in order to set the foundation of a new fair and several society, in favour of earth’s ecosystem and the entire human population.
We witness, however, unbearable apathy of those who are directly responsible for this pointless waste of resources. Contrary to what is desirable, the myth of consumeristic society proliferates and infects anthropic contexts still, to this date, more sustainable than post-industrial society. In this frantic race towards “consumerism” we jeopardize life quality opportunities for future generations.
So why is all this necessary? Maybe because in the contemporary age the string- intact up until now- that relates man and his surrounding environment, that link the material culture and his settling in history has been damaged; the continuous prodding of new myths, life styles and trends inhibit pause and meditation, creating a cultural gap that doesn’t allow choices or the development of more fair and sustainable life style models.
“Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili” starts off from this consideration, striving to embody the gathering and fundamental element of a net, deep-rooted in the territory, that promotes the culture of sustainability and of “sustainable” designing.
We speak of “culture of design sustainability” because nowadays it’s necessary, more than ever, to be aware of the global rebounds our individual behaviour may have: each local choice interacts with the global system, influencing social, economic and environmental aspects.To design in a sustainable way means to start and share a system logic, where the primary elements of a project are the culture of respect for the landscape, its resources, for the value
of social relations, of its history and for the fact of being an individual dot interacting with the universal.
“Cultura & Progetto Sostenibili” defines a way of thinking that focuses the designing process on environmental quality, the designer’s manner of conceiving an idea like an artist-artisan who’s interest is to allow, through the project, the expression of everyone’s needs, of experiences and citizen’s involvement, not the single technologic know-how arrogance and the egoistic assumption of being the only enlightened interprets of today’s cultural heritage.
