Una casa per vacanze concepita come “open space” per valorizzare le quattro volte a crociera che poggiano su un pilastro centrale

Sulle pendici delle montagne che circondano la cittadina di Bardonecchia, l’architetto Andrea Bella ha recuperato un vecchio edificio un tempo adibito ad abitazione e stalla. Durante la prima fase dei lavori, il tema è quello del recupero dell’edificio in toto, progettando diverse unità abitative indipendenti. L’ impossibilità di modificare lo skyline dei prospetti originali ha obbligato uno svuotamento, in alcuni punti, del volume.
Permettendo così la realizzazione di un collegamento verticale e garantendo aeroilluminazione a tutti gli appartamenti. Nella seconda fase, l’architetto si cimenta in un divertente lavoro di ristrutturazione: “trasformare la vecchia stalla in
una casa per vacanze”.

Situated on the mountainside near the small town of Bardonecchia, an old building once used as a home and a stable has been renovated by architect Andrea Bella. The first phase of works involved a general recovery of the building and its division into various independent living units. Given that no change could be made to the exterior shape of the original building, in some points the volume had to be gutted. This made possible both a vertical link in addition to
providing light and air to all the apartments. In the second phase, the architect took on the challenge of converting this old stable into a holiday home.

La distribuzione degli spazi, ruota attorno a quello che è il fulcro del progetto: il camino. Il suo rivestimento curvo
ospita una caldaia Palazzetti, dotata di sistema di ricircolo ed immissione dell’ aria calda per il riscaldamento; è dotato
del sistema di doppia combustione: sfruttando al massimo il potere calorifico della legna, bruciando con la combustione
secondaria il monossido di carbonio ancora presente nei fumi della combustione primaria e riducendo così le
emissioni inquinanti.

The various zones are all centred on the fireplace. Enclosed within its curvilinear shape is a Palazzetti stove fitted with
a hot-air circulation system for heating. Palazzetti stoves with double combustion systems make the most of the calorific value of wood: the second combustion burns any carbon monoxide still present in the smoke from the first combustion, thus reducing pollutant emissions.

L’assenza di arredi e muri a tutt’altezza consentono, da qualsiasi punto ci si posizioni,
di avere una totale percezione del locale

La richiesta che la committenza faceva all’architetto Andrea Bella poteva sembrare “ovvia”, ma non lo era! L’esigenza dei proprietari era di avere una casa per vacanze che, su una superficie di circa 45 mq, fosse strutturata in modo da poter ospitare fino a cinque/ sei persone. A priori, si era esclusa l’ipotesi di una soluzione che comportasse, ogni giorno, un totale stravolgimento degli ambienti. La soluzione che l’architetto Bella aveva proposto ai suoi clienti, era quella di creare uno spazio aperto, capace di accogliere, al suo interno, tutti gli spazi funzionali, e dal punto di vista estetico, cercare di valorizzare al massimo quella che era la particolarità del locale: la presenza delle quattro volte a crociera che poggiano su un pilastro centrale.

Andrea Bella's assignment was everything but easy to accomplish. He was asked to design a forty-five-squaremetre holiday home that could accommodate six. One idea, which required a complete turnaround of the rooms on a daily basis, was discarded outright. Bella's idea was to create an open space equipped with all functional areas; as for the aesthetic appeal of the room, the idea was to emphasise as much as possible its main feature: the presence of four groin vaults resting on a central pillar. The central block has been specially designed so that the amount of space it takes up varies: the bed at mid-height can slide under the one above it, and the double bed can slide beneath the mid-height one, resulting in a space saving of about ninety centimetres in the sleeping area with all beds folded away.

Ogni ambiente è disegnato su misura, concepito come un box contenitore
per sfruttare al massimo lo spazio.

Il blocco centrale, appositamente progettato e realizzato, è anche in grado di modificare il proprio ingombro: infatti il posto letto a mezza altezza è in grado di ritirarsi sotto il posto letto più alto, ed il letto matrimoniale a sua volta di
scorrere sotto quello a media altezza, consentendo di recuperare circa 90 centimetri di spazio nella zona notte, a letti
ritirati. Nella parte posteriore del blocco, verso il soggiorno, due grosse ante in legno sorreggono un grosso schermo
televisivo e nascondono il quinto posto letto, in grado di ribaltarsi e, ad ante aperte, portarsi completamente all’esterno
del vano di “raccolta” garantendo un perfetto ed arioso letto. Il divano, oltre a consentire un eventuale sesto
posto letto, è stato disegnato e costruito su misura, al fine di inserire sotto il piano della seduta due enormi cassetti su
ruote ed ai fianchi due pozzetti apribili utilizzabili come vani ripostiglio, oltre ad un vano tecnico dedicato ad ospitare le apparecchiature audio video.

sofa, in addition to being a sixth bed, is custom designed to have two enormous drawers on wheels under it, and two storage areas on the sides, in addition to space for the audio-visual equipment.

Le volte a crociera in mattoni messe in risalto dall’arredo dai colori
chiari e dalle linee semplici e moderne.

Gli arredi su misura sono stati disegnati dall’architetto Bella e realizzati artigianalmente in abete naturale impregnato con pigmenti all’acqua e poi trattato con cera d’api.

The furniture has all been designed by the architect, Andrea Bella; it has been hand-crafted out of fir wood, and treated with water dyes and beeswax.

Gli arredi disegnano a pavimento le zone funzionali.
La zona salotto è delineata dal comodo sofà, progettato come un capiente contenitore. Adiacente alla zona salotto è stata prevista la zona pranzo, con il suo tavolo e la panca, e la cucina, studiata su misura e dotata di tutti i comfort. Da qualsiasi punto dell’appartamento ci si posizioni è possibile avere una completa percezione degli spazi, grazie all’assenza di muri o arredi a tutt’altezza.

La luce naturale invade i locali, dove i colori chiari la riflettono L’impossibilità di modificare lo skyline dei prospetti originali
ha obbligato uno svuotamento, in alcuni punti, del volume, per garantire luce e aria a tutti i locali e poter realizzare
il corpo scala.

A natural light fills the rooms, and is reflected by the light colours used. Given that no change could be made to the exterior shape of the original building, in some points the volume has had to be gutted to bring light and air
to all the rooms, and to build a staircase.

La zona notte è concepita in modo da ospitare cinque letti, e concettualmente può essere assimilabile ad una sorta di matriosca. La parete curva, di rivestimento del camino, nasconde al suo interno la zona bagno e antibagno. Nel bagno
i sanitari sospesi sono di Flaminia, la doccia è in muratura e cristallo ed all’interno la zona lavanderia è dotata di un mobile che nasconde la lavatrice, ed un essiccatoio per la biancheria. A pavimento è stato posato un faggio lamellare, mentre le pareti sono state trattate con idropittura. Gli arredi sono stati interamente disegnati ad hoc e prodotti artigianalmente.

TRA IL 1998 ED IL 2001 LAVORA ALL’INTERNO DEL CORSO “LABORATORIO DI RESTAURO ARCHITETTONICO” DELLA FACOLTÀ DI ARCHITETTURA DI TORINO, SEDE DI MONDOVÌ, IN QUALITÀ DI COLLABORATORE DIDATTICO. NEL 1999 COLLABORA CON LO STUDIO CBS ARCHITETTI ASSOCIATI, CON SEDE A TORINO E NOVARA. TRA IL 2000 ED IL 2001 PROGETTA E SEGUE LA REALIZZAZIONE DI 35 UFFICI SUL TERRITORIO PER VEDIOR S.P.A. PARALLELAMENTE ALLA PROGETTAZIONE ARCHITETTONICA, TRA IL 2005 ED IL 2007, DISEGNA E REALIZZA OGGETTI DI ARREDO: UNA LAMPADA IN CRISTALLO PER ALBERGO, I SISTEMI DI CONTROLLO ACCESSI E MONITORAGGIO PER VISITO ED UNA CULLA MULTIFUNZIONE PER LYDA TURCK, TORINO.
