Secondo le dichiarazioni dello Studio Balance Associates, la realizzazione di Canyon House si è sviluppata in due fasi: nella prima è stato necessario raccogliere ed analizzare i dati relativi al sito, alle condizioni di esercizio dell'edificio e le richieste del cliente; nella seconda fase sono state effettuate le valutazioni tecnicoeconomiche dei flussi di energia.
La sorprendente bellezza dell'ambientazione naturale ha portato ad un design che dialoga con l'ambiente attraverso
l'uso dei materiali e le pareti vetrate, che consentono la visuale delle spettacolari pareti delle montagne che circondano la casa.
La forma ad U della costruzione raggruppa, sotto un'unica tettoia, tre separati edifici: l'edificio principale, il garage e la rimessa.

Le sporgenze del tetto sono state calcolate per controllare l'esposizione solare sul lato sud e contemporaneamente
dare un'immagine di continuità a tutta la costruzione.
L'uso della pietra di fiume per la costruzione del camino, che si estende al di fuori della costruzione divenendone parete di sostegno per il patio, il legno per le strutture principali, minimizzano l'impatto con l'ambiente interagendo con esso. La geometria strutturale della casa risponde adeguatamente al clima e al tempo stesso massimizza la vista panoramica e la luce naturale.

According to declarations by the Balance Associates Studio, Canyon House was made in two phases: in the first phase, the collection and analysis of data relative to the site, to the use of the building, and to the requests of the client was made; in the second phase all technical/financial energy flow evaluations were carried out. The surprising beauty of the natural setting has led to a design that communicates with the environment through the use of materials and glass walls that provide spectacular views of the mountains surrounding the house. The U-shaped construction has three separate buildings under one roof: the main building, the garage and the car port. Roof overhangs have been designed to control sun exposure on the south side while giving an image of continuity to the entire building. The use of river stone for the fireplace, which extends to the exterior of the home to become
a supporting wall for the patio, together with the wood for the main structures, minimizes the impact of the house on the environment with which it interacts. The structural geometry of the house responds to the climate while maximising the view of the panorama and the amount of natural light.

LA CANYON HOUSE È SITUATA IN UNA VALLATA STRETTA E PROFONDA AI PIEDI DI WASHINGTON’S CASCADE MOUNTAINS, IN CALIFORNIA. ALLO SCOPO DI SODDISFARE LE ESIGENZE DEL CLIENTE CHE DESIDERAVA UNA PICCOLA BAITA, MA CHE TUTTAVIA NECESSITAVA DI SPAZIO PER LA GRANDE FAMIGLIA, I 350 M2 DI COSTRUZIONE SONO STATI FRAMMENTATI IN TRE COSTRUZIONI DIVERSE, COLLEGATE TRA LORO DA UN’UNICA GRANDE COPERTURA.

CANYON HOUSE IS SITUATED IN A DEEP VALLEY AT THE FOOT OF WASHINGTON'S CASCADE MOUNTAINS IN CALIFORNIA. IN ORDER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE CUSTOMER, WHO WANTED A SMALL CABIN WITH ENOUGH SPACE FOR A LARGE FAMILY, THE BUILDING'S 350 SQUARE METRES HAVE BEEN SEPARATED INTO THREE DIFFERENT CONSTRUCTIONS CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER BY A LARGE ROOF.
