Luna Rossa è il nome perfetto per la lucente, contemporanea casa incurvata come una luna crescente che sembra raggiungere le poco distanti rocce rosse del Boynton Canyon.
E’ l’esempio di un’architettura divenuta un tutt’uno con la natura non solo adattandosi ad essa ma divenendone
essa stessa nuova natura, nuovo paesaggio.
Andreoli ha integrato l'ambiente esterno con l'ambiente interno con un grande completo gesto, quasi un inchino
sia al sole che alla luna, creando un’oasi nel deserto.
Attraverso i suoi progetti fatti di linee chiare e decise e l’elegante semplicità di forma capace di trasmettere una
nuova vita di serenità, armonia e bellezza, l’architetto abbraccia l’orientamento verso il minimalismo moderno
creando al tempo stesso un nuovo straordinario stile Zen, ZenDona (Sedona Zen).
La contemporanea abitazione con quattro camere da letto e quattro bagni è inondata di luce. Un muro di finestre
rende possibile guardare i canyon da ogni stanza.
Il soffitto aperto sopra le acque all'interno e i frammenti triangolari di finestre che fluttuano sul soggiorno aggiungono
ulteriore luminosità e visuali sorprendenti.

Circondata dalle rosse montagne del canyon di boynton, in arizona, l'originale costruzione di aldo andreoli si propone come una nuova naturalità, come un nuovo paradigma sintetico che comprende paesaggio e natura, come idea fondativa dell'architettura stessa, strutturante.

Surrounded by the red mountains of the boynton canyon, arizona, this original building by aldo andreoli presents itself as a new nature, a new synthetic paradigm in which landscape and nature act as the underlying structural philosophy of the architecture itself.

Il blocco di vetro all'ingresso della casa danza con la luce tutto il giorno. Filtrata da questi diaframmi, la luce abbondante dall’esterno si diffonde dolcemente negli interni e si dilata dando forma a spazi dalle gradazioni monocromatiche.
"Penso che Sedona sia un posto così bello che le case dovrebbero essere una cornice per la visuale e l'intera
idea di questa casa è di vedere la bellezza ovunque tu guardi". Il soggiorno di Luna Rossa è progettato per creare
aree differenti per usi differenti. E' diviso da un camino ricoperto con gli stessi materiali che Andreoli ha installato
nella cucina e nel bagno, aggiungendo a Luna Rossa completezza integrata.
"Tante persone sentono fredda l'architettura contemporanea", dice Andreoli, "forse perché gli edifici contemporanei
spesso utilizzano cemento. In Luna Rossa ho impiegato materiali che appartengono alla tradizione dell'Arizona,
come pietra lastricata,legno e rame (che una volta veniva estratto dalle miniere della vicina Mingus Mountain).
Questi si sposano bene con i colori del ginepro e dei pini dei dintorni". Altro elemento caratterizzante di Luna Rossa
è l'acqua: dalla piscina di circa 25 metri che abbraccia le curve a mezza luna della casa alla vasca dell'atrio interno,
viene qui utilizzata come elemento riflettente e di struttura e per lo strano potere di stimolare la fantasia e
svelare infiniti riflessi di colore.
Luna Rossa è la comprensione dello spazio in quanto luogo, è un'architettura determinata dalla capacità di riconoscersi nel luogo divenendone parte integrante.

In questa pagina: una piscina riflettente proprio di fronte la porta d'ingresso è la prima "sorpresa" di questa oasi contemporanea.
Nella pagina a fianco: luna rossa segue i contorni naturali del terreno in una forma crescente che sembra abbracciare il paesaggio.

In these pages: shaped as a continuous soothing curve to follow the natural contours of the terrain,this house is reflecting in a long infinity-edge swimming pool that is the first surprise in this contemporary oasis.

Luna Rossa (Red Moon) is the perfect name for a gleaming, contemporary and curvilinear house shaped like a
crescent moon that seems to want to touch the nearby rocks of Boynton Canyon. It is an example of how architecture
becomes one with nature not only by adapting to it but by actually turning into a new nature, a new landscape.
Andreoli has integrated the exterior environment with that of the interior by means of an all-encompassing
gesture, almost a bow, both to the sun and to the moon to create an oasis in the desert.
By means of projects made using sharp lines and the elegant simplicity of form that can convey a new life made of serenity, harmony and beauty, the architect embraces the trend towards modern minimalism and at the same time creates a new and extraordinary style of Zen: ZenDona (Sedona Zen).
This contemporary home with four bedrooms and four bathrooms is inundated with light, and a wall of windows
makes it possible to look at the canyon from every room.
The open ceiling above the water on the interior, and the triangular window fragments that float above the living
room add more light and surprising views.
The block of glass at the entrance of the house dances with light all day long. Filtered by these screens, the
abundant light from the outside is gently diffused on the inside such that it enlarges and gives shape to the
monochromatic spaces.
'I think Sedona is such a beautiful place that houses ought to act as a frame for the view, and the whole idea
behind this house is to see beauty wherever you look.

In basso: un caminetto squisitamente ricoperto a mosaico è il punto centrale del soggiorno dove finestre di circa 5 metri guardano lo spettacolare boynton canyon e i pavimenti in legno aggiungono calore all’ambiente.

Aldo Andreoli si è laureato in Architettura a Torino. La convergenza dei suoi studi italiani, i molti viaggi e venti anni di lavoro di Design negli Stati Uniti hanno formato la sua sensibilità progettuale internazionale. Ha fondato Sanba Inc. nel 1992, a New York. Sanba è specializzata in progetti ad alta finalità che bilanciano forma e funzionalità. La filosofia alla base di Sanba è la comprensione che la verde/sostenibile architettura sia la forza trainante del futuro design. Nelle foto: la piscina con la vasca idromassaggio, che avvolge la struttura curvilinea, è la parte più rilevante dei circa 270 metri quadrati di patio coperto e terrazze murate.
In lontananza le rosse montagne del boynton canyon, si offrono come splendida cornice naturale.

The living room of Luna Rossa is designed to create various areas for different uses. It is divided by a fireplace
covered using the same materials that Andreoli has placed in the kitchen and bathroom, thus adding integrated
completeness to Luna Rossa.
'So many people feel contemporary architecture is cold,' says Andreoli, 'perhaps because modern buildings often
use cement. In Luna Rossa i have used materials that belong to the tradition of Arizona, such as stone slabs,
wood, and copper (which was once extracted from the mines near Mignus Mountain).
These go well with the colours of the juniper and pines of the surrounding area.' Another characterising element of
Luna Rossa is water: from the 25-metre pool that embraces the half-moon curve of the house to the inner pool of the atrium, here water is used as both a reflecting and structural element and for its strange power to trigger the imagination and to reveal countless reflections of colour.
Luna Rossa represents an understanding of space in terms of location, and its architecture identifies with the
site to become an integral part of it.
